how are people doing locked alts here? is that even a thing mastodon is set up to do?

@roseveleth i had some meetings with editors last weekend and i was like "well i used? to have? a couple thousand twitter followers?" and i do not know how promo for the new book is going to go

real big "to die would be a great adventure" vibe on the birdsite right now

@tcarmody it's this one zwilling.com/us/zwilling-enfin we also got a zojirishu thermos too keep the coffee at an unnaturally hot temperature. the whole setup is really nice for two people who drink a lot of coffee throughout the day

@tcarmody i order whole beans from a small batch roaster in my hometown, grind fresh, and brew in what is basically an automatic pourover machine. top with minor figures oat milk. i'm insufferable πŸ˜‚

if you'll be at or SIGCIS later this week and want to hang out, send me a ping! let's have beignets!!

@cariglino do what i do, just end every article with a gif of homer simpson going "and that's the end of that chapter"

update on the pen fair: it was Fine (TM) but was mostly modern US and Euro brands, which i dont really care about. but in two weeks the shop is hosting a vintage guy who really cares about the one vintage brand i care about the most (Wearever) so i might have to go back.

also the dimsum we got in rockville was phenomenal so overall good times

Show thread

@andresmh i consider shitposting to be "dumb jokes and weird bullshit," definitely not "reactionary posts about real life"

@ben late "we suvived the shower door shattering on alex yesterday" celebration

@cariglino i'm good at shitposting! i'm good at dumb jokes! i'm good at dumb jokes and shitposting in a way that was actually good for my career and idk i feel a way about sitting at what feels like the serious grownups table now. i'm anxious about what fork to use in a way that i'm not really used to

anyway today alex and i are going to a pen show out in Farthest Rockville, wil report back
