UPDATE: after trapping and disposing of two mice last night, I now viscerally appreciate why our ancestors kept cats.

I still haven’t recovered but on Thursday night I turned off my bedroom AC before going to bed, heard some rustling, and turned right in time to see two mice scurry out from under it, see me, bonk their heads into the wastebasket next to me, then turn around and flee out of sight
