Notification bleeps annoying you but can't turn them off?
Since I saw someone mention it, on mastodon.social at least, the way to turn off the notification bleeps isn't in the Preferences menu but rather a separate list of settings you can access from the settings icon in the top-right of the /notifications column.

@scattermoon try using a different client - the backend on masto is entirely separate to the frontend, and the API is open. So you don't have to use the mastodon.social website to have an account there. Pinafore.social is a good client, lots of app clients etc too.
