One of my more pedantic nitpicks is finding it annoying that people forget that in the movie Minority Report the "tech" was not AI or fancy algos but three psychic orphans with weird drug-induced aliments who spend most of their time in a milk pool
@ingrid This is a very good point, but another often-overlooked point is, that movie was absolute trash.
However, it did provide us with a very powerful tool, because if a journalist mentions Minority Report in their article I know that I can stop reading right there.
Spoilers
@ingrid the most unrealistic part of that movie was the unanimous decision to shut down the pre-crime division and free all the prisoners when they learned the psychics were wrong sometimes.
@ingrid yes! Also, there was some surveillance tech that facial rec’d you and subsequently showed you a custom advertisement, in public, 24x7. That part could turn out to be pretty spot-on fairly soon.
(The eye surgery was pretty traumatizing for me to watch!)
@ingrid it's a super important nitpick, when you consider the hidden labor story behind "AI"
