niche academia question: is it normal to talk about the "metabolic rift" as Marx's concept or as Bellamy Foster's? I was taught it as a Marx idea but isn't it more accurate to call it an interpretation of Marx by a guy?

@ingrid yeah i think so, marx talks about "metabolism" (iirc following some other 19th c. writers' use of the term) in the same sense but "metabolic rift" is afaik bellamy foster's coining
@ingrid even if jbf put a (more specific) name to it and elaborated the concept with much more focused analysis, it's totally present in marx's work in a bunch of places and imo does play a real part in his model of how capital flows and subsumes, how modes of production and human society more broadly is inextricable from the material world, etc
