@ingrid That trinket box article is full of good sentences. I liked “When you're policing your trinket box like an HOA policing the size of people's garage door windows, you've lost the plot altogether.”

Is it your sense that people are generally more uptight and controlling about this sort of thing than they were twenty or forty years ago? I remember that when I was a child in the 1970s it was considered desirable to be “mellow”. But perhaps that was aspirational and people were actually just as strident and uptight as they are now. What do you think?

@ingrid @ranjit Maybe it's a social media sampling issue. The people who are mellow about trinket boxes are exactly the ones we *don't* hear from.

@mjd @ingrid I have to admit that the trinket box article was ruined for me by comparing a cup of flour to 16 ounces of flour. A cup of flour is gonna be 8 fluid ounces or 4-ish ounces by weight. 👿
