Weird GIS software design question here: do you often want to compress a layer down into a single feature and keep information about the units? Do you think of this as reducing, squeezing, zipping? Something other name?

@vruba union of geometries, but trying to keep features properties as lists/sets. I guess it's reducing in one dimension and zipping in the others?
