OAK, my local airport, wants to expand. I encourage other East Bay people to submit comments: https://www.oaklandairport.com/terminaldevelopment/
Here’s my draft (open to phrasing advice until I send it): https://gist.github.com/celoyd/e0d6fd9cd43d5b18517e8a62cea0f19f
@vruba they want to add over 1000 parking spaces (just for employees!). there should be none at all.
this expansion is about passenger terminals but any restriction on flight length for kerosene airplanes should apply to cargo as well. (OAK is the bay area’s busiest air freight terminal.)
but generally difficult to restrict these sorts of things without regional planning, it’ll all just move to Sacramento and Stockton.
@midendian I think the realistic best case is: force OAK to have high standards, thereby force SFO/SCJ/SMF standards to lower, then let the rising bar of public expectations catch them.
@midendian It’s very first-mover disadvantage stuff, right? But the saving grace is that if you can fly x/ton out of OAK or x minus a bit/ton out of SMF, it catches up reasonably quickly. (Redrafted because of confusing typo.)
@midendian Ah good, trucks.
