I’m grateful for all the scholarship and public discussion on AI, but I often resent the fact that SV agendas commandeer all other fields. A few self-proclaimed geniuses decide that something needs to exist, and the rest of us have to drop what we’re doing to grapple with it. Imagine the *infinitely* more interesting discussions we could be having about, say, pedagogy if we weren’t freaking out abt ChatGPT.

@ingrid Yes — exactly! I remember being so annoyed back when the iPad was released, and so many people were concerned with how it could or should transform education.

@shannonmattern @ingrid totally! The opportunity costs in education from Ed-tech and corp Ed reform generally have been enormous. (despite some benefits)
