@ingrid I was taken by a sentence I read earlier in the week in a 1979 Time-Life book on restoring old houses titled 'The Old House' which was:
"Once the essential repairs are taken care of, from fixing roofs to unsticking windows, you can put away the hammers, saws and trowels and become a detective, a cannibal and a mixer of magic potions."
