oh my god it sucks having to say something so vulnerable to a congressional staffer to be understood, but I think telling my congressman's office that I'm scared they'll do nothing if my Lebanese Muslim partner (also their constituent) is disappeared made the staffer more sympathetic

now i have to take a little walk to decompress from having to say that fear out loud, ugh
