my committee told me to remove voice-y stuff that might be deemed "unserious" by a hypothetical hiring committee but then did not actually give me a list of things to change and would you believe I don't have a good internal gauge of where my voice is too much because it is _my voice_

@ingrid few hiring committees ever read CVs, let alone published essays, and never PhDs ... who has the time?
