watching eXistenZ for the first time since i saw it in a theater when it was first released.
@1moremin i love it! So much character, tho I’m not a fan of the center aisle layout. Was it something else before it was a theater?
@quaad yes, it's a mid 30's building donated for the cultural activities of Athens Uni students. This space was a small theater. By the end of the 90's they (They!) tried to take it and repurpose it, they even removed some rows of the chairs, but it was successfully squatted until it was given back. We were watching films sat in random chairs, with low quality of sound and screen but it was a great eXperienZ.
@1moremin I love to hear about a successful squatting. We had some in NYC until a certain mayor rolled out the full force of the NYPD to end them. your eXperienZ also reminds me of the lengths we would all go in a pre digital world to see good films.
