I just tried to sign up for a 7-day free trial with Speechify to see if I could tolerate it, They instantly charged me for a full month and then, when I protested, produced a boilplate note explaining that the "trial period" was actually a "refund period," and that they only offer refunds if you don't ever use the app, aka trial use.
How are these asshats not in a class-action suit yet?

@kissane There was some debris on the freeway the other day and I had the thought: it would be neat if there was a team of people whose job was to patrol the highways and fix dangerous situations. Likewise, I can imagine a country where there were some kind of federal commission that would notice when someone is running their trade deceptively.
