The comic “Soup Season”, by Alex Krokus. It’s drawn in a loose and friendly style, in four panels: In the first panel, we see a speaker (who appears to be an anthropomorphic raccoon, wearing a scarf) at a podium saying “give it up for soup season!” into a microphone. The crowd, out of frame, is cheering “YES!”, “WOO!”, etc. In the second panel, we see what’s presumably the crowd. They are human and humanoid animals, and they are celebrating wildly. A hammerhead shark has “SOUP!” painted on their chest, and a bear is firing a shotgun into the air. The third panel shows a scene of arson and violence. The crowd has pitchforks, people are being beaten on the street, and a non-anthropomorphic dog gnaws a body. They are chanting “SOUP! SOUP! SOUP!” In the fourth panel, we see the original speaker again. Their expression is not obvious. In my reading, at least, it’s ambiguous whether the speaker has deliberately instigated the violence or is shocked by it. The “SOUP!” chant continues.
