medical systems

me to my doctor, months back: so I have these worsening [problems] that are making it comically hard to breathe and eat, also sleep and live

my (very civil) doctor: but what if those things are merely happening at random??

me: sir ,

doc: how about more of the testing that u have done before and that has never turned anything up and requires u to be off maintenance meds that keep u breathing for hmm let's say six weeks

me: … … …fine.

doc: weeks later, refers me to a clinic that doesn't do testing

me: so that clinic doesn't do testing

doc: huh, I thought I referred u to someone else

me: u did not

doc: huh

meanwhile, at the women's center, a licensed practical nurse: so I can't diagnose but I would hypothetically imagine that all those things are indeed connected and you're on the right track, let's just try a thing and see

me: yes, yes please

six weeks later: I am so much better

the LPN also gave me a rec for great indoor shoes for people with subclinical floppiness so basically she's a one-stop shop for practical magic

(asking my GP about this got me a lecture about fad diseases when I just wanted practice advice on supports for my body pretzeling around like Doctor Skelebones)

what if I just ghost my GP and only get "women's health"??

will anyone notice? let's find out

@beebalm I have no suggestions or insights here but can I throw a chair or maybe a small pickup truck at your GP

@beep it's kind of goofy! he's good at ordering blood tests (which I need a few times a year) and renewing my maintenance prescriptions, but perhaps I can just work a r o u n d him for the other things 🤞
