Last week I received an email asking me to contribute to some sort of academic review, and the European administrator who wrote asked that I put her in touch with the assistant who manages my calendar and correspondence. Ha.

But it made me wonder: do some European faculty have assistants? I know some bigshot American faculty had assistants, like, 50 years ago; I'd love to know more about this history. And I wonder how many senior faculty still treat their R.A.'s as "assistants".

@shannonmattern I know for a fact that all faculty at Harvard Law and Yale SOM have assistants, assume it’s true at HBS and Yale Law as well.
