@rose_alibi @darius @mcc @c9a in college i had a samsung somethingorother with a slide out physical keyboard and i miss that phone every day
@c9a @oddletters @rose_alibi @mcc @joeycastillo I believe I recall that Andi is a fellow Treo ~600 person. My first and one true technological love
@darius @c9a @oddletters @rose_alibi I think you're thinking of someone else… my personal white whale is the Sony Xperia X Compact (2016), of which I have two sitting in a drawer a few feet away (it broke so I got a new used one), which was my Perfect Phone but AT&T has banned me from using it because its VoLTE chip isn't compatible with the VoLTE on their 5g-upgraded network or something.
Sony Mobile is slowly withdrawing from North America so even if they do something like a revival… :(
@mcc I had (still have!) a lovely Xperia XZ1 Compact, and it was so good. But useless on current phone networks, and they also have an extremely high GPS radio failure rate (which mine is stricken with).
@oddletters @rose_alibi @darius @mcc My first smartphone was a secondhand G1 with a keyboard under the incredibly satisfying swivel-out screen, and I miss it so much.
I still have it in a box...I kind of want to go on an extensive quest to stuff some modern phone guts in it, honestly. And actually, I should poke around to see if anyone else has, that phone was well-loved!
Kind of a much more ambitious Oddly Sepcific Objects Sensor Watch (h/t @joeycastillo)
