Deeply humbling moment last night when I had to explain the Air Bud movies and the "ain't no rules a dog can't play basketball" concept to my students

I was looking for an article summarizing the Facebook emotional contagion story from 2014 and in an absolute parody of 2010s millennial house style the NPR writeup from that time opens with "So, that happened."

pol and woowoo stuff

This morning I was listening to the Chani app week in astrology podcast and she was like "lunar eclipse in Libra again, last one was in October, might see some major events unfold again" and seeing a push notification just now that the US finally let a cease fire resolution pass feels a bit on the nose

Tui

A large, dark nectar feeder endemic to New Zealand. Easily distinguished by two curled white feather tufts (“poi”) visible on the throat. Tail and wings have blue, purple, and green iridescence. Found throughout much of New Zealand, including Auckland, Kermadec, and Chatham Islands, though mostly absent from Canterbury. Favors native forest and scrub, also venturing into suburban parks, farmland, and rural gardens. Often detected by its unique voice consisting of melodious notes intermixed with croaks, coughs, clicks, and wheezes. Also listen for its noisy whirring flight. Similar to male Eurasian Blackbird, but easily identified by its white throat feathers and iridescence. Song can be easily confused with that of a bellbird, but listen for distinct loud coughs, grunts, and wheezes in Tui song.
