Moving always sucks, especially when you are self isolating and have hoarding tendencies, but then friends come out of the woodwork and are supportive and kind and you get to spend real quality time with them and it’s kind of magical.

@tripofmice it’s similar in NYC, except the wait list runs into the thousands (tens of thousands?) and the apartments are similarly priced at slightly below market rate. I lucked out and got a rent stabilized apt outside the housing lottery through a friend of a friend.

And in this apartment I’ve experienced two very painful breakups, a pandemic, and well, politics.

that feeling when everything you've been procrastinating about for the past ten years has to be done in the next four weeks.

Was driving down Coney Island Avenue recently and noticed that these are now gone. They may not have been great (or even good) art and their historicity is dubious, but I liked that they were there and I'm sad that they're gone. the long defunct bell telephone logo is still there.
