@ingrid after thinking a bit about my initial reaction here's what i think: personally i don't respond well to symmetry. maybe it's my contrarian personality. it feels too balanced. the horizonal spread of the font feels "shaggy" to me. lastly the color feels subdued and i feel like the overall impression is passive.

@ingrid love this book. I own two editions and i will buy the new one the moment it's available. I hesitate to weigh in but i don't love this cover as much as i love the book.

So I think the mystery tree is a princess tree. According to the New York City tree map there are several not too far from here so I’m gonna go see if they match.

The blue jay situation has progressed. they have thoughtfully decided to save me the trouble of placing peanuts on my window ledge. it's much easier for me if they just come into the kitchen and help themselves to the peanut bowl.
