Got basically nowhere on revisions today because it turns out still being mad at my advisor for mismanaging money and lying about it makes me very hostile to her feedback even if some of it is reasonable! I will get past this it's just annoying

I know I am being a baby but it is annoying to get feedback encouraging me to add contextual and analytical obvious stuff for a hypothetical undergrad reader in my dissertation when said dissertation will in fact only be read in its entirety by this committee, possibly not even all of them

@ingrid It might feel anticlimactic, but its also huge! I know whenever I would finish a chapter draft I'd both feel relief and then a daunting anxiety because there always was MORE TO DO, which cut the joy of it.
I hope the committee's review goes well!

@mjd I think some of it comes from the fact that she is out of her depth with my particular field of research and she's trying to make herself feel relevant?
Naïveté about “open” maps
@ingrid Your post reminds me of a project I worked on almost 15 years ago - mapping land grabs. I would say perhaps not the technical geo people themselves, but there was a lot of naivete among all actors (minus local people) about net good, a priori, of open maps. And about scales. The notion that mapping ancestral claims to land of locally powerless people would somehow protect them as opposed to signpost and open their land up to global capital. There was no recognition of invisibility and hiding in plain sight as a strategy of the oppressed. (And irrespective of who built these online infrastructures, irrespective of who “owned” them, if anybody, they would tend to benefit those who already had power.)
