starting off the lunar new year right: reading Kate Beaton's DUCKS and then having a good hard lay down on the floor about it

@aramsinn _wow_ that is wild???? and also a very nice piano??????

@overholt im like 76% sure a pin dish is for the pin bones in fish while you're eating

@clive @tim @ubiquity75 i have a small collection of crystal ashtrays that i use to hold: candy, paperclips, the dishsoap bottle, handsoap in the bathroom

are you an or comms scholar who is interested in how money works in the high tech space? are you going to ICA or are you already in Toronto? you should submit to my coincidentally co-located not-an-official-pre-conference workshop on TECH/MONEY! find the CFP and submission form here and please share with folks who might be interested: forms.gle/ZgLEk817PWoUHt1V9

@mcc this is all super helpful, thank you! it doesnt surprise me that its all a bit messy and it means a lot that you took the time to walk me through it. ☺️

@aramsinn dibs on calling my next grad STS seminar "i dunno technology is weird"

@mcc this is very helpful, thank you! i switched to tusky bc it let me mute conversations/specific threads. are there other android apps that let me mute conversations?

@RobynCaplan this is definitely one of those things i blame lavish descriptions of food in children's literature for. like turkish delights or trifle.

@aramsinn how does something become a DM and not a mention? like your reply is a mention for some reason, even tho other replies in other threaded conversations seem to be DMs

: opens can of fediverse worms, shouts into it : can someone explain the difference between mentions and DMs to me bc i have things in my DMs tab on tusky that look like mentions to me

@darius @mcc oh it's an Ethan thing. i vouch for it not being wicked.

@cwood i'm giving tusky a try, but i'm not wedded to anything and reserve the right to throw the whole enterprise into the sea

ok, im on a new app now that lets me mute conversations but damn having a post go big here is unpleasant in a way that having a post go big in the other place never really was for me.
